Future Plans

• PSO2 Director Nakamura was quoted hinting at a new crafting system category other than [Weapon Extension] and [Technic Customizations]. This new feature is probably the one datamined a while back.
• A new Dark Falz battle will be arriving in the May 7th update.
• The new Dark Falz has two phases similar to the Dark Falz Arms and Elder battle. The first quest, [The Cunning Dark Winged Vanguard] lets you face a new boss known as “アポス・ドリオス” Apos Drios! Apos Drios is a wing-type Darker magician who can manipulate three elements; fire, ice, and lightning. It can summon pillars on the field that will eventually lead to a powerful attack. You can intercept this attack by destroying the pillars.
• The new Dark Falz can drop Red Scorpio, Caduceus, Edel Arrow, Gal Wind, Lavis Blade, Meteor Cudgel, Berdysh, and Judgement Hearts.z

Soul Bonus

Today’s update added a whole slew of soul bonuses to the game. Soul Bonuses increase the success rates of certain abilities, there’s a better explanation of it at Cirnopedia.

Here is a new list of Special Abilities that receive a success rate bonus when a soul exists on an item.

These bonuses apply to II or III through:

Mining Base Adjustments

• Adjusted the quest clear containers for Mining Base. Changed the drop priority towards a descending order (H>>L),  low rarity drops will be hard to come by, high rarity drops will be easier to come by.  This change only affects up to ★10 items. The ★11 item drop system will see no changes.
• Limited the amount of meseta drop icons that appear after the quest is cleared. This doesn’t affect the total sum of meseta that can be obtained from the quest, it is merely a counter measure to reduce the burden on everyone’s system.

• Added a rare enemy variant for Talobecko.
• Took measures to reduce the server load at the quest counter.
• Changed the image displaying on the monitors during the Mining Base emergency announcement.

Special Ability Adjustments

• Success rate bonuses can occur when a special ability corresponds to the abilities of a soul.
• Special Ability success rate bonuses can also occur to souls that previously did not apply a bonus before.

Ranger Adjustments

• Adjusted the speed between the ranger’s stance and shooting for normal attacks and some PAs
• Reduced the amount of time the player is frozen after a dive roll.
• Assault Rifles: Made improvements to the bullet spread for normal attacks during movement.
• One Point: Made improvements to the bullet spread for Assault Rifle PA One Point.
• Increased the power and reduced the PP consumption of some assault rifle and launcher PAs.

Techer Adjustments

• Changed the prerequisite skill points for these Techer Skills: Wand Lovers, Dark Mastery 2, Light Mastery 2, Wind Mastery 2, Territory Burst. In accordance with this change, an all skill tree reset pass is distributed as compensation.

Photon Art Adjustments

• Buffed Over End’s power at level 16.
• Buffed Slide End’s power at level 16

Mag Adjustments

• A mag’s photon blast power will rise based on its current level.
• Improved upon the photon blast’s power, homing abilities, range and hit number.

Special Weapon Adjustments

• Special Weapons can have randomized grind values up to +5

The Guardian of the Gate: Apos Dorios

Apos Dorios is a gigantic Darker who serves as a guard for Dark Falz. In this new emergency quest, [The Cunning Ebon-Winged Vanguard], Apos Dorios has the power to manipulate, fire, ice, and lightning.

In addition, he can release a tremendously powerful attack by summoning four pillars across the field. Players can intercept this attack by destroying the pillars before they finish charging. By defeating it several times, we get closer and closer to determining the location coordinates of the new Dark Falz!

The Gate of Despair: Dark Falz

This new Dark Falz has the power to manipulate time. He wields two gigantic swords and can perform attacks of various elements. He holds power befit for the strongest winged Darker. Use caution and challenge it with all your might!

 After defeating him, everyone will get to perform a victory pose!

Players can obtain new 11★ and 12★ drops from Dark Falz.

Arks Grand Prix Preliminaries

The [Phantasy Star Festa 2014] coming this summer will commemorate the 2nd year anniversary of Phantasy Star Online 2! A tournament at the event will determine the fastest players across the nation! Players can hone their skills in the [ARKS Grand Prix Preliminaries Quest]! The quest will feature an assortment of Darker and Mech enemies, where you’ll face Falz Arms, Goldrahda, or Luda Sorcerers along the way.

• EXP and Item drops are not available in this quest as it is merely a training quest for the Arks Grand Prix.
• Free field [Volcano Caverns Exploration] must be cleared before this quest is available.

Klotho will also have a new client order available for this quest.

Io Partner Card and Client Orders

You can now receive new client orders from ARKS General Election winner Io! Her client orders are slightly different as they’ll require you to defeat enemies through just attacks. In addition she’ll require you to clear certain quests by forming a party with 2 or more players.

Eventually, you’ll receive her partner card, which lists her as an intellectual, tsundere, condition master.

Wedding Lobby

The Wedding Lobby will be available between May 7th through June 11th. With the reverse side of Spring Bingo, you can acquire the Assault Rifle weapon camo. [＊ピュアブランカ] Pure Blanca. See as confetti bursts through the air with each round!

If you’d like to set up your party as if you were playing in the ARKS Grand Prix, you can follow this list of guidelines.

[In the Driving Rain 2] emergency quest will be released on May 21st! This quest takes place in the forest, where Darkers and Naberius natives spawn as level 70 enemies on Super Hard. The quest has been updated to use a multi-party area from the start, with a map that’s easy to play in!

Frog Rappies will appear on the field between May 21st through June 11th. They’ll drop new items like Twin Machine Gun シャボンラッピーガン [Soap Rappy Gun] and Gunslash weapon camo 「＊ロゼオパラソーレ」 Roseo Parasol.

Today, Sakai wanted to answer some questions concerning the new Dark Falz! You may have noticed that the annihilation rate—shown at the top part of the screen—increases after defeating Apos Dorios. This system is set up in a way so that the percentage counts towards the rare drop rate.  In other words, if the annihilation rate is 145%, then the second phase will apply a [+145% Rare Drop Rate]. The highest annihilation rate you can achieve is 200%, and as of May 16th, 2014, none of the ships so far have made it to that number. He thinks they may have judged the annihilation rate too harshly, so they’re thinking about ways to address it.

In addition, players have noticed another hidden mechanic in the drop system. Based on the number of times you defeat Apos Dorios, increases the number of drops in the second phase. However, you just have to defeat four of them to attain that drop number cap. Please take note of this because it increases the burden on the servers when high level players defeat them several times over on low difficulty settings.

In the future, they plan to not only examine the situation with the annihilation rate, but to take small steps in reducing the server load during a pre-scheduled emergency quest.

Purpose

• Players can now participate in a new Item Design Contest where they can create weapon camos, accessories, costumes, and now mags!

• The winning designs will have their works created as in-game items, which will be distributed through AC Scratch. The winners will receive their items separately from the public.

 

Important Points

• The works submitted must be somewhat related to Phantasy Star Online 2
• They are not accepting entries for hairstyles, head parts, leg parts, arm parts, and body parts for this contest.
• Weapon Camos should be submitted only for the categories that appear in Phantasy Star Online 2. You will not qualify for the selection process if you submit outside of the targeted weapon categories.
• Submitted works may be slightly modified when implemented as an in-game item, or posted at the official site.
• Entrants must submit unpublished works they’ve created themselves.
• Images must be in the JPEG file format up to 1MB in size.
• One person may submit several works.
• Please fill in all the required entries in the submission form.
• Please refrain from posting your works on a blog or social networking site, etc. Your winning entry may be disqualified if they discover that it was posted to the public before or after the winning announcements.

• You can use chat shortcuts for expressions while disabling the cut-in chat window. For example:
