5th Anniversary Quests

Phantasy Star Online 2 aims to celebrate its 5th Anniversary by releasing a new quest per week. These quests will commemorate each of the game’s episodic expansions, starting with [Special Infiltration Training: Episode 1]. Expect to see various bosses and locales that debuted in the first episode.

Play freely with friends or strangers without fear of failure, as the quest will clear even if time expires. Players will be able to claim their loot from the container that appears once the quest is over.

[Special Infiltration] will also reward players with Titles for clearing the quest on any difficulty, and S-Ranking the quest on Extra Hard.

Web Panel Event and Exam

Held alongside the 5th Anniversary is the interlocking Web Panel event. During its first iteration, players can earn points by defeating bosses within certain quests. These points will be tallied at the official site to unlock a plethora of prizes.

Players will also be able to participate in the first ever ARKS Licensure Exam. Various quiz questions will be presented daily, giving wonderful rewards based on the number of correct responses.

5th Anniversary COs and Exchange Shop

Xie will return to the lobby donning a nun’s habit. New client orders will have players solving her inquiries into the [Special Infiltration] quests. Completion rewards include [5th Anniversary Badges] for use at her exchange shop.

More Weaponoid Potentials

This update will release weaponoid potentials for Darl Weigle, Shooting Drive, Flowdia, and more! You’ll need to acquire a [Weaponoid Booster] from PSO2es to unlock these potentials.

Frame Arms Replica (AC Scratch)

The collaboration with Kotobukiya’s popular Frame Arms / Frame Arms Girl model kits blasts off with Stylet CAST parts and costumes! A number of additional optional parts will be included as accessories.

Submission Guidelines

• Submissions for hairstyles and cast parts are not being accepted at this time.
• Submissions for layered wear are not being accepted at this time. However, it is possible that the staff may convert your costume into layeredwear.
• Weapon Camo submissions are only valid for categories appearing in PSO2.
• Submissions of things attached to the player’s skin such as lipstick, under armor, socks, etc, will qualify for the corresponding makeup/body paint categories.
• Submissions of designs which target body parts from the neck up will not qualify for the Body Paint category. (In other words, submit your face-related designs into the Makeup category. From the neck up = Makeup. From the neck down = Body Paint)
• Entries submitted as Body Paint, may be implemented as [Innerwear].
• Designs which have multiple variations under the same theme, should be submitted separately instead of putting them all into the same image.

First Screenshot Requirement

Have your character wear an ensemble depicting one of the themes for the contest. Weapons, Mags, and Units should not be displayed in the screenshot. In addition, NPCs, enemies, and other players should not be shown within the screenshot. Images should be submitted in landscape orientation. The screenshot must be taken in a way in which both the character’s knees and body parts above are visible within the entire scene. This condition in particular is not required for the “I am a Guardian” division. Lobby Actions and facial expressions are also acceptable.

You may use the camera to change the angle and positioning of the screenshot. UI elements, including chat boxes and symbol arts, are not allowed in the main screenshot.

Second Screenshot Requirement

Your Player ID must be displayed overhead the character entering the contest. The screenshot should be taken in a way where their entire body is visible.

Character Creation File

You must upload the character creation file of your character wearing the ensemble depicted in the screenshot.

Submission Process

• Each entry should be submitted in JPEG, up to 1 MB in size.
• You can submit ONLY 1 entry per contest theme. (Max: 3)
• Entries must not be shown to the public, and can only be submitted by the creator themselves.
• Please refrain from editing the image. (i.e cropping)

Art Contest

Phantasy Star Online 2 is now accepting entries for its 5th Anniversary Art Contest! This year’s contest tasks artists with commemorating the 5th anniversary of PSO2. You can submit an illustration under whatever theme you like, whether it’s art depicting your favorite character, or a recollection of your favorite moments from Episode 1 ~ 4.

The winning illustrations will have their artwork converted into in-game room items which can be proudly displayed on the wall.

A multiple choice quiz of twenty questions will be presented on a daily basis. Players who earn a certain amount of points during the quiz period will receive prizes like accessories and stickers.

• They will be rescheduling the EQs that were scheduled to take place at 20:00 JST, 22:00 JST, and 2:00 JST.
• They are considering some form of compensation for users

ARKS Licensure Exam

A multiple choice quiz of twenty questions will be presented on a daily basis. Players who earn a certain amount of points during the quiz period will receive prizes like accessories and stickers.

Most people by now should have qualified for all the prizes in the ARKS Licensure Exam. For those who haven’t done so already, the instructions on finding the answers to the quiz will be located in the ARKS Battle Chronicle post. 

You can take the quiz any number of times during the campaign period. Each correct answer nets you 5 points, for a total of 100 points if all questions are answered correctly. The quiz itself will reset each day at 00:00 JST.

Special Training: Episode 3

In [Special Training: Episode 3], players will battle bosses across Planet Harukotan and the calamitous Naberius and Lillipa fields introduced in Ultimate Quests. Join up to three other players and play at your own pace, as the quest will clear regardless of whether time runs out.

Suzuhito Yasuda Collaboration #2

Three characters designed by manga artist Suzuhito Yasuda will grace the lobby for a limited time! Yozakura Quartet’s Lila will be joined by original characters Ely and Quina. Clear their client orders to get their partner cards and discover how and why they’ve boarded the ARKS Ship.

With their orders out of the way, Clara, Nix, and Kizika will appear in Franca’s Café. These characters were also designed by Yasuda and made their first appearance back in 2015. Now’s the opportunity to grab their partner cards in case you missed out before.

The three newcomers can also pop up during Emergency Trials.

Eccentric Girls (AC Scratch)

Gear up in the latest fashions from your favorite space pop idol Quna, or take to the seas in Hagito Phemut’s uniform! Outfits and weaponry based on Yasuda’s character designs will also be available.

Phantasy Star Online 2 will introduce the Hero class as part of its Episode 5 expansion! This class has the unique ability to fluidly switch between three weapon types in the heat of battle.

Heroes have swords, twin machine guns, and talises among their arsenal. Thanks to their unique Photon Arts and Weapon Actions, they’ll play a bit differently than the versions used by other classes. Fighting with just one of these weapon types is sufficient enough, but it’s even more effective to switch between all three.

Heroes encompass a playstyle allowing you to change the action of your PA depending on how long you hold the button. In some cases you’ll actually switch weapons from Sword to Talis, to Twin Machine Guns, and vice versa.

Swords

Weapon Action: Spirit Bullet

• A striking-dependent long distance attack.
• Recovers PP upon hitting the enemy.
• Its power increases when charged.

Photon Art: Rising Slash

• Press to throw the sword upwards.
• Hold to jump and continuously slash.
• You’ll keep slashing until you run out of PP.

Photon Art: Brightness End

• Contains Guard Points.
• Slashes its surroundings.
• Hold to unleash a forward wide-area attack.

Photon Art: Flash of Trick

• Charge forward and thrust the sword.
• Hold to switch to Talis.

Photon Art: Vapor of Bullets

• Fire spirit bullets while moving.
• Hold to switch to TMGs.

Twin Machine Guns

Twin Machine Guns perform powerful rapid fire attacks. Unlike the Gunner counterpart, their basic attacks consume PP.

Weapon Action: Reload

• Hold the button down to recover PP.
• Perform a [Just Reload] to speed up PP recovery.
• You can also [Reload] in the air.

Photon Art: Brand New Star

• Shoot Piercing Bullets across a wide area.

Photon Art: Final Storm

• Fancifully shoot the surroundings while traveling around.

Photon Art: Second of Edge

• Quickly approach the enemy and perform a zero distance attack.
• Hold to switch to Swords.

Photon Art: Moment of Trick

• A rapid-fire attack that can stun the enemy.
• Hold to switch to Talis.

Talis

Talises can be thrown pretty fast, but they unfortunately do not have the ability to remotely activate Technics. 

Weapon Action: Warp

• Shoot a “Marker” and teleport to its location.
• You can also attach it on an enemy to travel towards them.

Photon Art: Jet Wheel

• Deals damage to its surroundings for a limited time.
• You can even perform other actions while it’s spinning around.

Photon Art: Wise Hound

• Deals continuous damage for a limited time to the hit location.
• It could even hit on several parts of a single enemy.

Photon Art: Dive Of Bullet

• This attack lets you move and stun enemies.
• Hold to switch to Twin Machine Guns.

Photon Art: Razor of Edge

• Another attack that can stun enemies.
• Hold to switch to Sword.

Hero Skills

First Blood

• The first attack made from a sheathed state will result in a Just Attack.  This will also work for the attack that comes right after performing a weapon action.

Hero Boost

• Power gradually rises over time as long as you don’t receive a certain amount of damage within a certain time frame.

Hero Time

• Hitting enemies with a variety of attacks will help to increase the gear gauge. Once it is maxed out, you can activate Hero Time! During this time, your gear gauge will steadily decrease.

Hero Time Finish

• Using [Hero Time] again prior to the gauge depleting, triggers a finishing move unique to the weapon type. Swords will perform a series of slashes, while Talises generate a damaging field.

• This skill enables usage of a double jump.

ARKS Licensure Exam

A multiple choice quiz of twenty questions will be presented on a daily basis. Players who earn a certain amount of points during the quiz period will receive prizes like accessories and stickers.

Most people by now should have qualified for all the prizes in the ARKS Licensure Exam. For those who haven’t done so already, the instructions on finding the answers to the quiz will be located in the ARKS Battle Chronicle post.

You can take the quiz any number of times during the campaign period. Each correct answer nets you 5 points, for a total of 100 points if all questions are answered correctly. The quiz itself will reset each day at 00:00 JST.

Magisterial Onslaught

In Magisterial Onslaught, players will once again thwart the advancement of the Phantom Battleship Yamato as it heads towards Japan. Organized in a similar manner to Unleashed Prestige, the ARKS will first traverse sheets of ice, then switch over to piloting the A.I.S during the final battle.

Changes will be in store on [Extra Hard], as Las Vegas enemies join the fray with the Yamato launching even more violent attacks. This difficulty will also strengthen Yamato’s attack patterns during the final battle. Expect to see a more aggressive onslaught of missiles and lasers attacking in every which way.

Magisterial Onslaught is a pre-scheduled Emergency Quest that can be cleared up to two times per session on the same ship. Players who wish to challenge this quest on [Extra Hard], will need their main and sub classes at level 75 or higher.

The four player Rematch Quest, “Quintessence of Steel,” will instead release on July 19th.

Two New Collection Files

A reconstruction of a previous released collection will be split into two files: [Magisterial Collection] and [Phantom Battleship Collection]. The former focuses on Seiga, Military, and Quotz weapons, while the latter deals with A.I.S and Yamato weapons. Both collections will run until Nov. 29th, 2017!

Collect [Ether Fuses] in Magisterial Onslaught to unlock hidden potentials on certain weapons. Zieg can also upgrade Earth based weapons, if you bring him [Ether Fuses] along with one of the qualifying weapons.

New ★14 Weaponry

New ★14 star weapons covering Dual Blades, TMGs, and Swords will be available as a drop in this update. With Akatsuki’s potential, performing a Just Guard breaks apart the sheath, giving the weapon increased damage.

Jupiter Tullus’ potential releases lightning bolt projectiles with Photon Arts.

Initiating Chain Trigger will activate Quelle Windea’s potential, granting invincibility for several seconds, along with other effects. 

Special Training: Episode 1 ~ 4

[Special Training: Episode 1 ~ 4] will have players face an assortment of bosses carefully selected from each episode. This quest is available to players who’ve cleared, in its entirety, each Special Training quest released so far. Those who have not done so already will have another opportunity, as the four original quests will re-release along with this update.

Participants in this quest will also have the chance to receive this ★12 unit!
